What Are Gum Disorders
The American Dental Association and various dental and medical groups have done research and confirmed the direct link that exists between oral health and heart disease. Gum illness has been considered often times to be the main reason that people develop coronary heart disease and one of the most compelling reasons to see a dentist.
The bacteria that have been shown to exist in the gums have shown up on heart valves and other areas of the body. Gum Problems has also been thought of to be the reason for a stroke in some patients and has been a strong indicator as to how long a person might have to live.
Gum disease and heart disease is usually not something that many people will associate with each other. It should however be a concern for those that have experienced some level of gum disease in their lifetime, and if it was a severe gum disease you should take the necessary precaution.
In anyone’s mouth at any given time there are over 300 different types of bacteria that are not only alive and thriving but looking for ways to escape the mouth and live someplace else. When there is an infection of any type in the mouth and gums, especially if there is bleeding associated with the gum infection, bacteria are given immediate and direct access to other parts of the body through that blood stream source. These tiny bacteria can even gain access to the brain as gum disease has been linked to stroke as well.
