If you have decided to be better at vertical leap then definitely you will need a good guideline to be successful. A better vertical leap will allow you to be better in basketball and in athletics. However, you will need to be patient and you will need to work out in order to achieve your goals. The best thing you could do is to have a guide map so that you can follow it through to success. It can be possible to increase your vertical leap performance considerably, but you will need to be consistent in your efforts. Once you start with a specific goal in mind; you should continue until you have reached your goals. If you cut your work short, you will never be able to reach the vertical leap performance that you may desire.

1. First record your initial starting point. In other words, see how much of a vertical leap capacity that you have. Then you can build on this measurement.
2. Make sure that you record your progress along the way. This will act as a self control mechanism and you will always be aware of your progress. I learnt this from Luke at the vertical project review. In case, you lag behind, this can also serve as a motivating factor.
3. Always do warm up exercises before you start your training. It’s important for your muscles and tendons to be conditioned before training.
4. Make sure that you train yourself for couple of days a week. Improving your vertical leap performance is not an overnight event and thus you will need to be consistent in your efforts
5. In every training session make sure to include stretching exercises to help increase the toning of your muscles.
6. Strength training is also an important part of your vertical leap training. I learnt this from the vertical project review. Your lower back muscles must be strong enough to give you the lift power that you need. Do push ups and rope jumping in order to increase your physical strength.
7. Work out in the pool as much as you can. This is crucial as the feeling of reduced weight will help you train yourself without putting excessive stress on your joints. Try to propel yourself out of the water for long periods of time. This exercise can help immensely with your vertical leap performance.
