There are ways that you can make your shaving experience a little more comfortable. Just as anything, there is a wrong way and a right way to go about shaving.

It is important to keep your razor clean at all times. They sell brushes to keep them clean. They recommend cleaning the razor every three uses. You can use a cleaner like Parks Shaver Cleaner to clean your razor. To keep the blade from rusting or going dull, you may want to lubricate your razor. They recommend using the lubricant after each use. There is no need to rub the lubricant off the razor.

You are going to want to protect your skin to the best of your ability. Especially the skin on your face, because it is extremely sensitive and susceptible to razor burn. There are many tips to use while you are shaving your face, legs, underarm or even your head including switching to an electric shaver.

Get your face wet with warm water. The warm water loosens the skin, or relaxes it so that it is easier to shave especially with an electric razor. Electric razors use a quick ‘pull and cut’ method. When shaving with a straight razor, you will want to shave against the grain, so-to-speak. If your whiskers grow downward, shave upward. Use one stroke in one area, unless you miss a spot. This reduces the chances of getting a razor burn or rash. Once you are finished, use cool water to rinse your face, legs, underarm or head off. This will close your pores to protect your skin. You may want to use an after shave. Always use a lotion to protect against dry skin, especially on your legs.

Men are not the only ones needing to have it easier here. If you are a lady, you know how uncomfortable it is to cut your leg, or worse, right on your ankle or knee. There are a number of ladies electric shavers, that contour with the shape of your leg, as you shave. With a straight razor you don’t have that. It is just straight and you have to twist your wrist to shave the curvy places.

When shaving your face and wanting to leave a pattern of some sort like a go-tee, there are steps to follow. When shaving around these areas, you want to make sure that both sides of the go-tee are even. Be sure and to trim your go-tee. Think of it as trimming a bush. Once you do it a few times, you will master it. It just makes your shave look a whole lot cleaner.
